Day 127: Time OUT

I stayed home from work today. I am taking a “time out”.  A break. A respite.

I didn’t want to. I am hoping that this ACTION leads to CHANGE.  Change for me and all around me.

Matthew 11:28-30New International Version (NIV)

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Today, may you and I choose to go to Jesus, because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  Because we are weary and burdened. Because only He can give us REST.  Today, may you and I learn from Jesus because He is gentle and humble in heart……may you and I become more gentle and humble at heart by spending time with Jesus. We WILL FIND REST FOR OUR SOULS, in Jesus’ name.

Day 126: What’s going on?

What is going on with kids today? Better yet, what is going on with the way WE (it takes a village, right?) are raising our kids

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it

Proverbs 22:6

In the school I work at, children are running out of classrooms, cursing, trashing rooms, biting teachers and kicking them in the face……and what are the consequences for this?

Suspension? (if you guessed suspension, you are INCORRECT).

NO!

In lieu of suspension, these kids are kept in school, doing what they feel like when they feel like so they don’t “BLOW UP” and grown people are following them around to make sure they don’t run from the school building.

What is this teaching? Your guess is as good as mine.

Did I mention the grade level that is carrying on in such a way is Kindergarten and First Grade? No? Well it is. And we are teaching them that as long as they stay “in control” they will be rewarded, even if they assaulted a teacher or trashed a classroom.

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it

Proverbs 22:6

How do we expect these little ones to act when they grow up? Will this be a chair tossing, room destroying, teacher assaulting phase they will grow out of? What is going to happen when they REALLY hurt themselves or others? How many chances will they get before something terrible happens to them or us? What are we teaching OUR children?

Father God, forgive us all for not seeing the value in the LIFE of a child. Help us to pour the love of Jesus Christ into them from the beginning. Father God, teach us how to discipline our children in a godly way, not sparing the rod when necessary. Father, stop all this nonsense happening in our schools and bring righteous leadership in that will adhere to the Word of God and bring the little children to Jesus and not hinder them, in Jesus’ name.

Day 125: Square One

Progress……baby steps…….moving forward………STOPPED!

I progress…..I take baby steps……I am moving forward…….I STOPPED!

BACK TO SQUARE ONE

It is a good place to start.

Square One requires a new course of action. It can’t progress the same way, right? Everything was on course and then BAM, it wasn’t. But why?

What sets us back? What gets us off the track? What gets in the way?  Is WHAT the right question?

Romans 7:15-20New International Version (NIV)

15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

What do I do now? What do you do now?

May my heart and yours surrender to the truth about ourselves and may we receive all we lack and then some from the ONE who has given us NEW LIFE. LIFE. LIFE. May we bring our plans to You Father God and ask You to prosper them. Remind us that it is no longer us that lives, but Christ that lives in us. May we receive Your grace and mercy for every time we return to Square One and know that with You Jesus, nothing is impossible. In Jesus’ Name we ask! Thank You LORD 🙂

Day 124: Still alive

Have you ever had those days when you know you are very much alive, but inside, something is just not right? Something is quite dead?

I’m having a moment just like that right now.

Where is the LIFE. LIFE. LIFE. that I know?

Father God, come in and fill this emptiness. Fill it with the resurrection LIFE you have given to me through Your Son Jesus. You are an ever present help in time of need and I NEED YOU!!!!  I ask this in Jesus name.

May my heart and yours surrender today to our deepest need: to know and be known by God, the author and finisher of our faith. May we seek first the Kingdom of God that all would be added to us. Death, where is Your sting? It is a greater life living in me than he that is in the world. In Jesus MIGHTY NAME!

Day 123: The Sweet Scent of Spring

Today is a windy, Spring day.  The air is sweet. I breathe it in and every fiber of my being is filled with delight.

It is INCREDIBLE!

LIFE. LIFE. LIFE.

My nose takes in the sweet air.

My lungs open up to receive this truly life giving experience.

My brain has somehow translated the process and has determined how sweet the scent actually is.

WHAT A GIFT!

PSALM 103

Today, may my heart and yours take delight in the ONE who has created the SWEET SCENT OF SPRING. May we marvel at the work of HIS HANDS. May you and I seek to discover the richness of the love of Jesus, who took such great care in creating us to experience joy. JOY!!! And LIFE everlasting!!!!

Day 122: alienated

Ugh! That word! Alienated. It is especially ugly when preceded by the word PARENTAL.

PARENTAL ALIENATION

Are you familiar with this terminology? It means that a PARENT is made ALIEN to their own children and vice versa. It is a terrible thing to happen. Especially when a parent wants nothing else but to know and be known by their own children. Parental alienation usually occurs because of divorce when one parent has custody of a child and does everything they can think of to keep the child from developing a relationship with the other parent.

PARENTAL ALIENATION

Can parental alienation be compared to the fall in the Garden of Eden?  At the moment when Adam and Eve believed the LIE, that their Father God was holding back from them by forbidding them to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were alienated by what they had discovered. It was as though the relationship they had with their Father was severed because they no longer accepted His unconditional love. They now had the power from the fruit of this tree to judge and they were naked and ashamed. God didn’t want them to experience this, but it happened. And when it happened, the alienation began.

I don’t know about you, but I think that there is a pretty awesome answer to restore broken relationships, relationships broken by the belief in the lies of the enemy. Satan, the father of lies.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

John 8:44

The answer if JESUS. He was alienated from His Father in order to take our sins upon Himself. He willingly went to the depths of Hell to reclaim our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We need only believe.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Jesus made a way for us.

The Father made a way for HIM.

May my heart and yours rejoice in JESUS, the author and finisher of our faith. May we believe in the restoration of all relationships, in and through Jesus Christ, despite the efforts of Satan to thwart them with his lies and the people he uses to spread them. May we remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood…….

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

May we do this all in the mighty name of Jesus and the Life. Life. Life. He has given us!

Day 121: temperature

Temperature can be defined as how hot or cold the body is. Lately, my body has gone through some temperature changes, rendering me HOT most of the time. It has it’s pro’s and con’s. I can endure the elements better, but when I am indoors, I feel like I may humanly combust.

The Word of God mentions temperature when referencing our relationship to God.

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16

Lukewarm. It seems ideal. A comfortable place. But here, lukewarm makes Our God want to spit us out!!!

When I think about my life in relationship to God, I think of my cold, hard heart towards Him or times when my heart has been on FIRE for Him. But what about the times when my heart is neither? What then? Is it that I’m not concerned about God at all? Is being lukewarm being dishonest before God?

Why is lukewarm something that is not palatable for Our Lord?

May my heart and yours steer clear of lukewarmness. May we be in the will of God and bring His Kingdom come into all areas of our lives and the lives of others. May You give us wisdom as to why lukewarm is so distasteful to You Father. May we seek You with our whole hearts and be filled with Your abundant LIFE! In Jesus’ name.
