Day 49: m e l t i n g

It is good to give God thanks in all things. It’s not only good, but it is God’s will for you and for me.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Have you ever been challenged to have a heart of gratitude in the midst of  dreary weather?  Isn’t our first response to complain about it? It’s dark.  It’s cold. It’s raining. It’s MISERABLE out! What else do we have to say? Sure, for some, it is merely stating facts, but for others, like myself, I believe there is more involved.

He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. Proverbs 21:23

Complaining about the weather may not seem like a big deal.  However, would  you agree that what we say first thing sets the tone for the rest of the day? If you see the day as BAD simply because of the weather, well then your day will most likely reflect that. If you can give thanks for the day, regardless of the weather and even thank Him FOR the weather, then that sets up a whole other scenario.

I was tempted to complain about the weather today. VERY TEMPTED. But this is the day that the Lord has made! I decided to rejoice and be glad in it. I decided to praise the One who created it and thank Him for everything about it.

Thank You Lord for this day.

Thank You Lord for the cold, rain.

Thank You Lord for the wind.

Thank You Lord for the clouds.

Thank You Lord for the water You have provided.

Thank You Lord for the snow is MELTING.

Thank You Lord because You have given me the air I breathe.

Thank You Lord for LIFE.

This list is limitless when we choose to thank God in every thing. EVERY THING. Not just some things. EVERY THING!

May we guard our tongue and choose to speak praises of thanksgiving in every thing. May our hearts be full of gratitude. May our eyes behold the glory of our God every day in every thing. THANK YOU LORD!!!

Day 48: Identity Theft

Identity theft is a concern most of us have. If you have ever been a victim of identity theft, you know what it feels like. Someone has taken enough of your information to impersonate you. Consequently, this may have damaged your credit rating leaving you ineligible to receive a loan and/or a host of other  very unpleasant and damaging circumstances.  Not only is identity theft inconvenient, it is a violation. You never feel very safe after it has happened to you. If you learned anything, you have learned to be watchful and protect your personal information. You are definitely more guarded. Perpetrators are out there just waiting to steal your information again. How terrible to think this can happen?

After all, there is only one of you. You are unique and there have been systems put in place so you will be safe, though the days of not giving out your social security number are long gone. It’s crazy. How can somebody have the audacity to steal your identity?!

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.  John 10:10

Identity can also be stolen by another very real enemy. Only this enemy doesn’t just want to destroy your credit rating for his own personal gain. This enemy wants to steal, kill and destroy YOU! This enemy does not want you to know who you REALLY are or who he really is for that matter. Because he is the father of lies,  that is indeed what he does. He tells them to you so that you may never really know that You are the apple of God’s eye. That He is crazy about you. This way,  you will not understand that you are deeply loved by God, fully forgiven through the blood of His Son Jesus, completely accepted by Him, and a new creation in Christ.  You will not understand the power and authority that  dwells within you and BAM! Your life is over and You never knew the truth. Your very LIFE has been stolen!

The Father’s Love Letter

Any awful thing that you believe about yourself is not something Your Creator thinks about you. Quite the opposite.  He gave up His only Son for you and for me, that we would be right with God. He made a way when there was NO way. We can not make ourselves right with God no matter how good we try to be or think we are. Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.

May you and I understand who we are in Christ Jesus. May we find our identity in Him and Him alone. May we declare who we are and refute all lies about our identity. May we guard and protect the TRUTH about who God says we are. May we stand on the finished work of the Cross, the only way we can be made right with the Father. May we give thanks for all Jesus has done for us. May we truly come to learn how deeply loved we are. In Jesus’ AWESOME name.

Day 47: more than content

Have you ever been more than content? Have you ever had a day when the ordinary became extraordinary? Nothing really changed, yet everything was different?

Today was like that. It was a cold day. It was a typical day. There was nothing out of the ordinary happening, yet there was something so extraordinary taking place. It was delight. Plain and simple delight. Delight in Jesus Christ.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4

His Word is alive. It is LIFE. I breathe every syllable in. Deeply. Excited by what it is doing in me.  Excited by the One who dwells in every sound. Excited by His presence. Enamored by His love for me.  Kept by His very presence. Empowered by His Spirit. Rejoicing in the work of His hands. Grateful and Blessed by His Body. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,  built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. Ephesians 2:19-20

DELIGHT. DELIGHTFUL. DELIGHTED.

DELIGHTED IN.

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

May your heart and mine be deeply satisfied and take delight in Jesus Christ. May your heart and mine breathe His word in deeply bringing LIFE ABUNDANT. May your heart and mine recognize how He delights over us. May we experience the incredible gift the Body of Christ is. May we continue to gather in His Name and watch Him move mightily in our midst.  Thank You Jesus!

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Day 46: wake up!!

Jesus is beauty and He is alive in you!! Believe it! You’re beautiful 🙂

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

May my heart and yours rejoice in the truth of who Jesus us and what He has done for each one of us. May we choose LIFE on this day and declare the beauty and majesty that dwells within us. All other ground is sinking sand! May my heart and yours receive and declare His great love for us and who we are in Him. We’re beautiful!! xo

Day 45: la famiglia

I met with my cousin today and it is truly a joy to spend time with her. We met at the historic Milleridge Inn. It was the first time there for both of us. What a nice place. It is rather roomy, yet cozy. We met there for lunch. We were seated by a window and directly across from an active fireplace. It was great!

History.

It’s funny, there we were, surrounded by historical decor and seated in a place that dates back to 1672, and we were not the least bit interested in our surroundings because for us, we have our own history. I’ve known my cousin since she was born. 35 years of familial history. And though there is much room between us as far as physical distance and life in general, it is so cozy to be with someone you’ve known for so long. It’s good to be around family. What a joy!!!

Who knows you like family? Depending on the family member, this could be good or bad. But there is One who knows us better than anyone else on the planet. He even knows how many hairs are on our head. Imagine that. God keeps track of how many hairs we have at every moment. I don’t know about you, but I spend quite a bit of time removing hair from my drains….God knows about each one. Astounding!! And every tear. He keeps every tear we cry. He knew us before we were born and He knows about every moment we have had and will ever have. Family doesn’t run any deeper than with our Father.  History doesn’t run any longer. And though He is in heaven and we are yet on earth, it is incredibly cozy to be in His presence through His Son Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

May we be completely enthralled by the history our Savior has with each one of us. May we see that He cares for us deeply and loves us with great love. May we understand the history we have with Him and experience the coziness of His presence.  May we be filled with joy just because we are together with Him. Thank You Jesus. We are amazed!!

Day 44: feast

Today, as I was out to eat with a wonderful friend, I ate a meal that was not just a meal. It was a feast. There was food everywhere and it seemed it would never end. I would have been quite content with the entree, but the meal came with so many extras. There was a soup AND a salad and bread and dessert….it was a feast. It was more than I expected.

We were fortunate to know that when we sat down, we would be served and we could pick anything we wanted off the menu. But what if that wasn’t the case? Have you ever been hungry? REALLY HUNGRY and with no food to be had?

Jesus was faced with the hungry. 5000 of them. And they had a need I’m not sure they even knew they had. They needed to be fed, but there wasn’t anything much to feed them with.

Jesus does the unexpected. He was able to feed 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes. What seemed like a little, Jesus turned into a whole lot. He gave thanks and broke it up to the point where there was some left over. 12 small baskets of bread and fish to spare. How is this possible? It was a miracle. It wasn’t ordinary. It didn’t make sense and God made it happen through Jesus Christ His Son. He fed many people with what seemed to be just a little.

When God get’s a hold of things, He meets our needs with abundance. He can do anything, even if we can’t figure out how. He is God. We are not. He takes care of the feeding. We simply eat what He has freely offered us.

May we sit down at the table Jesus has prepared for us. May you and I realize how hungry we really are. May we be filled with all Jesus has to offer us, knowing it will be exceedingly more than we could ever hope or imagine for. May our hearts be filled with trepidation at the work of His hands. There is NONE like Jesus.
