Day 118: Age

Is anyone else out there hung up on their AGE? If you are reading this then surely you are still among the living and therefore have an AGE otherwise known as the amount of years lived on this earth.

What is your age?

Has your age plagued you or hindered you in some way?

You’re too young to (fill in the blank).

You’re too old to (fill in the blank).

What does it mean to you?

What does it mean to GOD?

Even to your old age and gray hairs
    I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
    I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Isaiah 46:4

No matter our age, He never changes. May our hearts rest easy knowing that God never changes and will ALWAYS be for us and never against us as He knows us because He made us. He sustains us, carries us and rescues us. Our age never discounts us where God is concerned. May my heart and your heart receive this truth and bask in His great and unending love for us. In Jesus’ name.

Day 117: squirrels

I was outside doing my thing in the garden when a great ruckus caught my attention.

Squirrels chasing each other up and down tree trunks, over lawns, leaping from branch to branch all while squeaking and screeching as squirrels do. At one point I watched as two squirrels fell from a tree. The silent fall ended up in a great THUMP! No squirrels seemed to be dead or wounded. I checked.

It was quite a scene to witness. The squealing of squirrels socializing on a sunny Summer Saturday.  SWEET! Long live the squirrel!

May my heart and yours look for LIFE. LIFE. LIFE. today. Squirrels risking life and limb in pursuit of LIFE. LORD, You gave it all that we may have life and abundant life. May we drink from that wellspring of LIFE today as we surrender and are filled up to overflowing with the contentment of knowing we are loved and Your pursuit of us is unrelenting. In Jesus name!

Day 116: Depression and Despair

As I title this post, I realize it should be written as a letter, so here it goes.

Dear Depression and Despair,

It’s really quite sad that I am writing to either one of you. How can you even be in my mind? Why are you both here? Is it because of my diet? My thought life? I suspect both of these.

I think the real reason I’m writing to you both is because of fear. Fear that I won’t lose weight. Fear that my brother will never see TRUTH. Fear that I will never overcome the obstacles in front of me. Fear of MYSELF.  Ugh, and then you both come to me and it solidifies the FEAR. I feel HORRIBLE and HOPELESS.

That’s why you are here, isn’t it?  To make me feel this way.

So now I am letting you both know, with the mustard seed of faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST and HIS finished work on the CROSS, that I am not afraid. Well, I am afraid, but God commands me not to be. So in His Word I take my stance.

But WHY? WHY shouldn’t I be afraid. The feelings and circumstances are frightening. And you know that, don’t you. Of course you also probably know that these things that I fear have not happened and may not EVER happen. And yet, you know that I want to hide out under the covers and there you are waiting for me until I am worried and stressed beyond measure.  Am I using you or are you using me???

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

I want you to both know that I am going to walk away, no, run away from you and into the arms of my SAVIOR and cling to HIS Promises.

Jesus is FOR me. Jesus DIED for me. Jesus LIVES in me. Jesus LOVES me despite myself!

He get’s it. He understands.

Why would I spend my time with the two of you when I could be spending my time with JESUS?

Depression and Despair, I am leaving you. You have been with me long enough. It is time for me to let go and trust someone other than myself. It is time to stop believing that you will take care of me. It is time to stop being ruled by fear and instead to be ruled by LOVE.

Good bye.

Day 115: Psalm 145

Psalm 145a (from Biblehub)

A psalm of praise. Of David.

1I will exalt you, my God the King;

I will praise your name for ever and ever.

2Every day I will praise you

and extol your name for ever and ever.

3Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;

his greatness no one can fathom.

4One generation commends your works to another;

they tell of your mighty acts.

5They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—

and I will meditate on your wonderful works.b

6They tell of the power of your awesome works—

and I will proclaim your great deeds.

7They celebrate your abundant goodness

and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

8The Lord is gracious and compassionate,

slow to anger and rich in love.

9The Lord is good to all;

he has compassion on all he has made.

10All your works praise you, Lord;

your faithful people extol you.

11They tell of the glory of your kingdom

and speak of your might,

12so that all people may know of your mighty acts

and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises

and faithful in all he does.c

14The Lord upholds all who fall

and lifts up all who are bowed down.

15The eyes of all look to you,

and you give them their food at the proper time.

16You open your hand

and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

17The Lord is righteous in all his ways

and faithful in all he does.

18The Lord is near to all who call on him,

to all who call on him in truth.

19He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;

he hears their cry and saves them.

20The Lord watches over all who love him,

but all the wicked he will destroy.

21My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.

Let every creature praise his holy name

for ever and ever.

May you and I exalt the name of JESUS forever. May we ascribe to  Him the worth He deserves. May we lift up our minds, our hearts, our voices, and our deeds to Him. May we lay down our weakness, our pain, our worry, our struggles as we trust Him with all things. With the knowledge of His love and mercy! YOU ARE GREAT BEYOND MEASURE!!!  IN JESUS’ NAME, we ask!  Thank You Father God.

Day 114: Creative

Spring is here

and creation is

bursting forth

with new

This is one of my FAVORITE times of the year. How about you? Are you as enamored  with the emergence of buds and shoots and new baby birds tweeting for their mama’s care as I am?

I am fascinated.  Are you?

Of all the things I see, there are so many things I cannot see. In my own backyard there is  action in the earth, in the trees, and on a blade of grass. From the most minute substances and creatures, I ponder the amazement that GOD made it all.

God has made the things that are seen and UNSEEN!!!

I rejoice in the CREATOR!!!

I cannot even wrap my mind around all of CREATION!!!

The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell in it. Psalm 24:1

May my heart and yours give glory to the Creator of this AMAZING creation. May we give thanks for the work of His hands. May we bring the same zest and zeal to HIM the way we do to those who create: artists, architects, musicians, surgeons…..for HE made all these and more….He made you and He made me. May you and I rejoice that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”.  We LOVE YOU LORD OF HOSTS!!

Day 113: Hope for the Hopeless

Who are the “hopeless”? Who comes to mind when you hear that title? Is it the ones that are at some sort of disadvantage? Why do you and I deem people “hopeless”?

Let’s ponder.

For me, I would say that the “hopeless” are people that can’t see their hopes and dreams come true, whether they are “over the top” dreams or not. They either want something unattainable OR they don’t believe they can get anything they truly do want, so why hope?

Regardless of that, there is HOPE for the HOPELESS. Even while they are hopeless, there is HOPE!!!

For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.  Colossians 1:27

May my heart and yours remember that even when we are hopeless, there is hope. We are not the hope givers. We are the hope receivers. May we pray that we would grow closer to Christ and be filled with the hope of glory: Christ in us. May we pray for those we deem hopeless and believe they will enter into a relationship with You Lord. In Jesus name!

Day 112:What’s your profile?

In this day and age, the data collected by search engines we use build a marketing profile designed to sell us stuff we will most likely be interested in buying.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

So what do our profiles say about our hearts? What are you looking at and searching for? What are you researching and purchasing? Where is your treasure? Where is your heart? Where is my heart?

May my heart and yours be found searching, seeking and getting to know the King of kings! May we desire Jesus above our wants and above our distractions. Pay we seek to live the life and not put our hope in stuff. May you and I value You above all else. In Jesus’ name.
