Day 92: let it goooooooo

“Let it gooooo…..”. Those familiar words from friends, family, bosses, co-workers, spouses, books (Karen Ehman wrote a REALLY good one btw  Let It Go by Karen Ehman ) and Disney, of course 🙂  (ask a kid!)

What are you and I holding onto? How does it make us feel when someone advises us to “Let It Go”? Are we anxious to heed that advice or does it somehow repulse us? If it is advisable for us to get rid of it, why do we often insist on keeping it and usually holding onto it TIGHTLY?

LET IT GO

May my heart and yours receive God’s prompting to open up our hands with the stuff we are holding onto. May we make a decision to receive ALL of what God has for us with open hands.  May we seek the truth about what IT is and why we hold IT so tightly and how to let IT go. May we fully surrender to the will of the One who loves us and gave his LIFE for us that we may LIVE and LIVE it to the fullest. Thank you Jesus.

Day 82: Google or GOD

Isn’t it amazing how we can access so much information so quickly? All we need to do is GOOGLE, or something of that nature, and PRESTO!, we have our answer. Think about what you have recently ASKED GOOGLE or some other search engine.

I have recently searched for answers such as, “What is making my boxwoods turn brown?”, “What are best types of sheds?”, and “How do you paint using chalkboard paint?”.   And I found them. LOT’S of them! Answers for just about every question imaginable.

I thought about what it must be like to live in a time where the only way to get an answer was with extensive research which took TIME. Oh yes, I actually used to live in a world like that.

But what I have never experienced is living in a time like Abraham did. Abraham from the BIBLE. Or ANYONE from the BIBLE for that matter. These people knew what it was like to WAIT for an answer. They didn’t GOOGLE. for answers. They couldn’t. They asked GOD. Often they CRIED OUT TO GOD. And He answered.

In our haste and desire for instant knowledge, we have turned to technology for the answers. We want to KNOW. We want to know as much as our curiosity and necessity allow us and we don’t want to wait for an answer. We want to KNOW NOW.

But God says:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

Sometimes we have to wait for an answer from Him.  And sometimes we have to wait for a promise to be fulfilled. And just like Abraham, sometimes we don’t wait and take matters into our own hands. But God still takes His time, regardless of the choices we make in our haste. What will you and I choose today? GOOGLE or GOD?

Father, change our hearts. Turn us away from our impatience and from our need to know. Help us to wait on You and trust that You will answer us. You hear us when we call and You bend Your ear low to listen to us. You are more than amazing!

Day 68: what do you see in the clouds?

The sky was exceptionally beautiful to me today. As I left my place of work and entered the outdoors and fresh air, I gazed up and saw a row of clouds streaking across the sky. They were equally lined up and wispy, yet powerful…..like angel’s wings.

Could it be?

I thought for a moment about what to expect from looking up  into the heavens. And as I did, I remembered that we are to expect Him, the One, the KING, to come out of the very sky I gazed upon. He will come in the clouds. Look up and watch and wait and see. The Bridegroom is coming again.

Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. Revelation 1:7

May we look up and look for Jesus to come again. May my heart and yours be filled with anticipation of His return. May we get to know Him as we are known that we might live with Him forever. May we receive His unfailing love and forgiveness even now. HE’S ALIVE and HE IS CRAZY ABOUT US!! Thank You LORD!

Day 61: into the great unknown

What a joy it is to walk with Jesus! You never know where He is going to lead you. First of all, He goes with you and before you. He protects you from behind. So you are safe. He takes care of your every need. He provides. You are cared for. He is much too wondrous for words. There is NO END to HIS GOODNESS. OH how HE LOVES US!

He satisfies us with the desires of our heart. Dare to believe HIM. He is more than AMAZING!!! TRULY!!!

I am amazed that I am amazed again and again. Why wouldn’t the CREATOR of the UNIVERSE be AMAZING?

Thank You LORD for You allow us to have great joy in YOU! You give us things to do and grant us the desires of our heart. You placed these desires in there in the first place. FIRST PLACE. You can have FIRST PLACE. Jesus, we surrender it all to You and thank YOU for it all!!

WE STAY AMAZED!

Day 60: this broken road

Faithful. Who among us can declare that they are faithful in ALL things? What does it mean to be faithful?

FAITHFUL.

We may give ourselves props for being faithful in certain areas, but where do we fall short of being faithful? Where does my heart and yours grow tired of believing or remaining loyal? What causes us to grow tired and full of doubt? What causes us to be tossed about in our faith? What are believing in? Who are we believing in?

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Ephesians 4:14

We can be thrown off course. We could allow ourselves to be tossed about. We can take our eyes off of Jesus. We can sink instead of walk.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;  but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.  Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.  James 1: 12-18

We ALL fall short of the glory of God. Jesus is the only One who has been tempted in every way and yet remained  sinless. We sin. We doubt the goodness of God. It has been that way since the fall of man. We doubt His goodness and His love for us. We may begin to think He is mad at us or holding out on us or we have to somehow earn His blessings. We don’t understand and can’t see the big picture,  so at times, we are tempted to believe lies about God and about ourselves.

May we choose to believe God today. May we choose to keep our eyes on Jesus. May my heart and yours be in remembrance of all He has done for us, even though none of us deserves it. “He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all He created”. What an honor! There is nothing greater we could ever hope for. The invitation is open.  Real LIFE is waiting for you. FAITH is how you believe.  Jesus is calling you.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Walk By Faith

by Jeremy Camp

Would I believe you when you would say
Your hand will guide my every way
Will I receive the words You say
Every moment of every day
Well I will walk by faith
Even when I cannot see
Well because this broken road
Prepares Your will for me
Help me to rid my endless fears
You’ve been so faithful for all my years
With one breath You make me new
Your grace covers all I do
Well I’m broken- but I still see Your face
Well You’ve spoken- pouring Your words of grace

I will walk, I will walk, I will walk by faith
I will, I will, I will walk by faith

Well hallelujah, hallelu…….

Day 58: I Know What I NEED

I need a shot of joy! I bet you do too.  A rushing flow of  real JOY overtaking every nook and cranny of our souls!!!! Cascading into pools from the overflow….puddles to dance in!!! Spilling over and washing away everything that comes against us with a mighty force!

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

May my heart and yours dance before the Lord today and rejoice in HIM!!! May we be blessed to be a blessing!!

May we remember YOU today Jesus and rejoice!

Day 55: r e s t

Sometimes we just need to rest. Do we know how? I had such a bad cold, I really did nothing but sleep. I had been tempted to go beyond that since I was home, but really, I felt too bad to do anything else. Rest. I rested. Truly. I cannot say I’ve done that in a long time.

Today, I am feeling better, but I still need to rest. Yes, there are many things I could use this REST time to do as well, but I am choosing to do nothing, which some have informed that, “Sometimes doing nothing IS doing something.”

And with that, I am going back to bed. Yes. I can rest easy knowing that I am in good hands.  The BEST hands.  I know that my body needs rest in order to heal properly. So I will rest while God does His work in me. He is so good. And He calls us to rest.

Here are 10 scriptures about REST. May they bless your heart and mine. May we find rest in the One who gives it freely to us. May we learn to cast our cares to Jesus and let Him bear all of our burdens for us as we REST in the perfect peace He provides for us. Yep, RIP, right here on earth. Thank You Jesus!

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
