Day 124: Still alive

Have you ever had those days when you know you are very much alive, but inside, something is just not right? Something is quite dead?

I’m having a moment just like that right now.

Where is the LIFE. LIFE. LIFE. that I know?

Father God, come in and fill this emptiness. Fill it with the resurrection LIFE you have given to me through Your Son Jesus. You are an ever present help in time of need and I NEED YOU!!!!  I ask this in Jesus name.

May my heart and yours surrender today to our deepest need: to know and be known by God, the author and finisher of our faith. May we seek first the Kingdom of God that all would be added to us. Death, where is Your sting? It is a greater life living in me than he that is in the world. In Jesus MIGHTY NAME!

Day 123: The Sweet Scent of Spring

Today is a windy, Spring day.  The air is sweet. I breathe it in and every fiber of my being is filled with delight.

My nose takes in the sweet air.

My lungs open up to receive this truly life giving experience.

My brain has somehow translated the process and has determined how sweet the scent actually is.

Today, may my heart and yours take delight in the ONE who has created the SWEET SCENT OF SPRING. May we marvel at the work of HIS HANDS. May you and I seek to discover the richness of the love of Jesus, who took such great care in creating us to experience joy. JOY!!! And LIFE everlasting!!!!

Day 121: temperature

Temperature can be defined as how hot or cold the body is. Lately, my body has gone through some temperature changes, rendering me HOT most of the time. It has it’s pro’s and con’s. I can endure the elements better, but when I am indoors, I feel like I may humanly combust.

The Word of God mentions temperature when referencing our relationship to God.

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:15-16

Lukewarm. It seems ideal. A comfortable place. But here, lukewarm makes Our God want to spit us out!!!

When I think about my life in relationship to God, I think of my cold, hard heart towards Him or times when my heart has been on FIRE for Him. But what about the times when my heart is neither? What then? Is it that I’m not concerned about God at all? Is being lukewarm being dishonest before God?

Why is lukewarm something that is not palatable for Our Lord?

May my heart and yours steer clear of lukewarmness. May we be in the will of God and bring His Kingdom come into all areas of our lives and the lives of others. May You give us wisdom as to why lukewarm is so distasteful to You Father. May we seek You with our whole hearts and be filled with Your abundant LIFE! In Jesus’ name.

Day 119: shining

Today the sun was shining and all seemed right with the world.

Have you ever had days like that?

It all started with a girl’s meeting and a whole lot of love, LIFE, and laughter.

From there, it was a day filled with joy and productivity. Denying myself in tired moments and pushing past them to spend time with the man I love.

COMFORT took a backseat and I feel so much better for it.

How often have you and I sought out COMFORT over CALLING?

May my heart and yours choose LIFE. LIFE. LIFE.  May we choose what is BEST realizing it is not always the path of least resistance. May we live to be with others, especially those we love and be fully alive and fully present with them. May we grow to be more and more like YOU JESUS. Thank YOU LORD!!!!

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
John 15:13

Day 117: squirrels

I was outside doing my thing in the garden when a great ruckus caught my attention.

Squirrels chasing each other up and down tree trunks, over lawns, leaping from branch to branch all while squeaking and screeching as squirrels do. At one point I watched as two squirrels fell from a tree. The silent fall ended up in a great THUMP! No squirrels seemed to be dead or wounded. I checked.

It was quite a scene to witness. The squealing of squirrels socializing on a sunny Summer Saturday.  SWEET! Long live the squirrel!

May my heart and yours look for LIFE. LIFE. LIFE. today. Squirrels risking life and limb in pursuit of LIFE. LORD, You gave it all that we may have life and abundant life. May we drink from that wellspring of LIFE today as we surrender and are filled up to overflowing with the contentment of knowing we are loved and Your pursuit of us is unrelenting. In Jesus name!

After  FINALLY choosing my ONE WORD for 2016,  I decided it would be CONSISTENT. Now, I realize that being consistent is something that in some ways, I have already accomplished. For example, I consistently AVOID EXERCISE. Yes, it’s true. REALLY!

I know that many people struggle with maintaining an exercise regime, but then there are others that DO exercise regularly. They are consistent in the commitment they have made. BUT HOW???

Perhaps they just know who they are?

What? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own?” (1 Cor. 6:19).

At this point in my life, I am not nearly as active as I had been, well, in quite a while. How about you? Are you in a place where exercise has become merely part of your wish list, or have you resigned yourself to the idea that exercise is not simply a SHOULD, but instead, a MUST?

Why do we consistently put off things that are good for us and in turn good for others? Why is it SO HARD????

Is it really SO HARD???

Perhaps a better question to ask is

“No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13).

Is that it? Temptation? But how does this relate to EXERCISE??? Where is the temptation to avoid exercise???  Perhaps this scripture will shed some light:

“Now no discipline seems to be joyful at the time, but grievous. Yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness in those who have been trained by it. Therefore lift up your tired hands, and strengthen your weak knees” (Heb. 12:11-12).

Are you and I tempted to avoid discipline because it is GRIEVOUS??? Are you and I simply tired and weak?

I would answer, “YES!!!”. Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!!  I would say, “I can’t do this. I can’t do this alone. AND I WOULD SAY:

“I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).

“So, therefore, I run, not with uncertainty. So I fight, not as one who beats the air. But I bring and keep my body under subjection, lest when preaching to others I myself should be disqualified” (1 Cor. 9:26-27).

“but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint” (Is. 40:31).

This blog is about LIFE. LIFE. LIFE. God has given us HIS WORD. GOD HAS GIVEN US HIS SON (John 3:16). Every good and perfect gift is from heaven. James 1:17

May my heart and yours seek the goodness of our FATHER. May we seek His rest and provision and push past our grievous hearts when it comes to consistently exercising. May we understand that we are not our own. Father, we ask for all of this in the name of Your Son JESUS!!

Day 107: more than metamorphosis

As a butterfly lover, I’ve always loved the picture painted by the plight of the caterpillar crawling on the ground. It is prickly, not usually very attractive, and it cannot fly.

As metamorphosis takes place, the caterpillar enters a dormant time where the creature literally transforms into something altogether different.  The butterfly. Delicate, beautiful and free to fly.

Metamorphosis is fascinating.

Likening the changes we go through in life from caterpillar to butterfly are times we are liberated from one very different life to another. We are changed once and we are changed again and again.

But what for? Why are we amazed when we have been changed into something more like we’ve hoped for? Is it only for ourselves?

Butterflies cannot fly without the heat of the sun they soak in. They depend on it. Without it, they cannot fulfill the job they were re-born to do.

We are very much like butterflies. When we soak in the Son, we generate enough of Him to fly. We take off and soar, fulfilling the job we were re-born to do.

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 3:3

Spread LIFE! Spread seeds and grow the Kingdom of God. LIFE. LIFE. LIFE.

Father, may we not let ourselves grow cold and render ourselves unable to fly. May we sit in Your presence and bask in Your love that we might be filled to fulfill. May my heart and yours be changed from glory to glory in the precious name of JESUS.

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
