Day 68: what do you see in the clouds?

The sky was exceptionally beautiful to me today. As I left my place of work and entered the outdoors and fresh air, I gazed up and saw a row of clouds streaking across the sky. They were equally lined up and wispy, yet powerful…..like angel’s wings.

Could it be?

I thought for a moment about what to expect from looking up  into the heavens. And as I did, I remembered that we are to expect Him, the One, the KING, to come out of the very sky I gazed upon. He will come in the clouds. Look up and watch and wait and see. The Bridegroom is coming again.

Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. Revelation 1:7

May we look up and look for Jesus to come again. May my heart and yours be filled with anticipation of His return. May we get to know Him as we are known that we might live with Him forever. May we receive His unfailing love and forgiveness even now. HE’S ALIVE and HE IS CRAZY ABOUT US!! Thank You LORD!

Day 59: why rush it?

There is a gorgeous rhododendron tree in my front yard. I gaze out at it and I can see the fullness of it’s buds.  It is getting ready to bloom and it will be very soon. Rhodys are one of the first flowers to bloom in the Spring. I wish they could last through the summer, but they bloom in all their glory and then they fall away pretty quickly. At this moment though, the tree is just getting ready for the beautiful display to come. It is not quite there yet. It’s time has not yet come. When the time is right the tree will know just what to do.  We give the tree the time it needs.

We wouldn’t necessarily think about rushing this process, would we? We can get excited about the signs we see of it’s coming blooms. We can be filled with expectation, but we let nature take its course. Prying open a bud would not get us too far. Perhaps someone with a greenhouse and a green thumb might safely get this process going faster, but most of us wouldn’t have a clue. We simply wait. Why rush it? We couldn’t even if we wanted to.

How many of us would worry about this though? Probably not too many of us. But there are plenty of things we may be inclined to worry about. Plenty of things we wish we were experiencing right now. Plenty of things that have not yet arrived. WE HOPE FOR these things. We may see signs of these things, but unlike our assurance that a flower will bloom, we don’t know if what WE HOPE FOR will come to fruition. We just don’t know.

But one thing is for sure, FAITH is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.  Hebrews 11:1

We may not see the flower yet, but we know it is coming. We believe it will bloom.  We don’t doubt it.

May we stand on the promises God has given to us through His Word. May we put our trust in the One who told us He would rise from the dead and has. May we put our trust in Jesus, who told us He is coming again and will. Thank You Jesus!!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11

The Light In Me by Brandon Heath

The Light In Me
by Brandon Heath
My life before You
I was a flame burning down
I was burning out
But You knew me better
For You there was never a doubt
God, since You gave me life
Something was different, I knew it the instant
You put the light in me
The spark, the shot to the heart,
You are the hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
So that the world could see
You put the light in meThe light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in meYou are the Maker, you tell the sun when to rise
I’m just a house on a hill
But You make me brighter than all the stars in the sky
Keep me from growing dim

‘Cause in Your perfection, I’m just a reflection
So pull me closer to You
I catch like a fire and I’ll hold You higher
‘Cause You put the light in me
The spark, the shot to the heart,
You are the hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
So that the world could see
You put the light in me

The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me

I’ll raise it high, I’ll let it show
From the rooftops down to the streets below
In day and night, You will be known
And all will see
You put the light in me
‘Cause You put the light in me

The spark, the shot to the heart,
You are the hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
So that the world could see
You put the light in me

The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me

Thank You JESUS 🙂

Day 26: A Mild Winter

It’s January, and so far, we haven’t had much snow.  It looks like it is going to be a mild winter. Lavender plants in my front garden are still very much alive. They were frozen down one day but have not yet met their demise. They look pretty good today.

Seasons.

We depend on seasons to bring certain things, but they don’t always deliver.

Everyone knows that there are different seasons in our lives. Seasons change. And sometimes, we expect certain seasons of our lives to look a certain way. What happens when they don’t?  What happens when you know that a season in your life is over and a new one has begun, yet somehow, it isn’t at all what you expected. It wasn’t supposed to look that way. Where is all the snow? Isn’t that what’s supposed to happen now? If not now, when?

Expectations. We all have them. Some are realistic, like expecting snow in January, and others, not so much. We can set our hearts up for some serious trouble when our expectations are not met. Even when circumstances are beyond our control, we can still let our hearts become filled with hopelessness, for one,  if we do not accept what truly is. Accept it and if necessary, pray it through to the only One who can make a difference.

Jesus did not come as many expected Him to. Even those closest to Him were let down.  Yet Jesus is the answer. Jesus is the hope of glory! Jesus is the only One who saves. Many who walked with Him did not want to see the truth. They had other expectations and Jesus did not fit. Because He didn’t fit, He had to be eliminated.

How do we eliminate Christ today when He doesn’t fit, match or meet or expectations? I ask this knowing full well that Jesus is more than enough. Expectations? No. We fall short in this department. He is more than enough.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

May your heart and mine rejoice in the truth that Jesus is Lord and Savior. May we be quick to discern truth from fiction. May we release our expectations to pick up and embrace reality.  May we decide to follow Jesus!

Day 14: all is BRIGHT

Don’t you love a sunny day? Sunny and warm, even better. Days like these put an extra bounce in my step. How about yours?

I feel more alive on days like that. The weather is not a hindrance. The wind is calm. Precipitation is zero. Not a cloud in the sky. At least, no chance of rain or snow.  One less thing to combat, plus a gorgeous, blue sky for good measure. Love it!

All is BRIGHT!

It is usually very easy to be filled with  joy on days that are bright. Not so much if there are storms. When the wet, windy, weather ensues, it can be difficult. Even on the most gorgeous of days, we may be faced with the storms of life. And then what? How do we get through this?

Life is filled with battles. We do not like this. Who wants to fight?  Battles are real.  We can try to ignore them or numb them,  resent them, and/or ask someone else to fight them for us, but ultimately, we must fight our own battles.  And fight we must!  And they are truly a matter of LIFE and death.

What are you in a battle for? Your health? Your marriage? Your children? Your job? Your home? Your gifts and talents? Your purpose in this life?  What is being shaken? Stolen?

We have an enemy and he wants to destroy the very things God gives us in our lives. The very blessings He has given us. And we must fight and remember this.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

May we remember that we are in a daily battle, one in which you and I, through Jesus Christ, have the victory over every enemy and the authority to enforce that victory. May we fight in His authority for ourselves and for others. May we remember that Jesus is the bright, morning star. May we look to Him to light up even the most dreadful of days.

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.”  Revelation 22:16

Day 6: MOONSHINE

The moon was mostly covered tonight. A sliver of light was shining brightly. The rest was barely visible. It’s form hidden under a shadow. A gray disk embellished by a slice of light.

The moon is FASCINATING. It stirs wonder up inside of me. Shining forth is light in it’s various stages. From jaw-dropping brightness to extravagantly orange.  From cheshire smile to just barely there. The moon goes through phases. It is constantly in process. It is either waxing or waning. Giving light or concealing light. But the very light it beacons out is not it’s own.

It belongs to another.

The sun.

The moon can be seen, but it cannot sustain. The moon can light the way, but it relies on the source. Through it’s many phases, it is not the moons job to illuminate, but to reflect. It’s shine is not it’s own.  It’s form can only be recognized by the light that shines upon it.

It would appear that apart from the sun, the moon cannot do anything.

The Word of God tells us that “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

We cannot shine without our source. Dare we take credit for the work of Another? If anyone boast, may it be of the LORD. Galatians 6:14

May the LIGHT that shines in our hearts be recognizable to you and to me. May we remember to give all the credit  where it is due. Jesus is the LIGHT of my heart and yours. Through Him may you and I reflect His light to illuminate the darkness.

“LORD let me shine. Shine like the moon. A reflection of YOU, in all that I do.” SHINE by Salvador
